Madison, WI - The Wisconsin Local Government Climate Coalition (WLGCC), in partnership with Dane County’s Office of Energy and Climate Change (OECC), is proud to announce that it has been awarded a $250,000 market building grant from phase 1 of the Municipal Investment Fund. This award will help to create a public-private partnership plan to develop an innovative pipeline of projects that will help to bring down energy prices and create jobs in Dane County.
“We are delighted to partner with WLGCC on this project to explore clean energy financing. Dane County stakeholders have led on so many clean energy innovations, from electric vehicle adoption, rooftop solar and heat pump installations, to net-zero energy buildings. So it’s appropriate that we can now pioneer to create a pipeline of projects for clean energy financing,” said Kathy Kuntz, Director of OECC.
Allison Carlson, Executive Director of WLGCC, stated, “We are excited to support Dane County, one of our 30 member communities, in this endeavor. Not only will it provide an important foundation for clean energy solutions in the County, it will also provide useful insights and information that our other member communities can learn from.”
To implement this project, WLGCC will hire 1-2 firms. The scope of work includes completing market research and stakeholder facilitation to identify and prioritize clean energy project types for Dane County, along with proposing financing products and infrastructure options to support the prioritized project types. *Interested firms can learn more on our website at https://wlgcc.org/current-opportunities. Proposals are due on Friday, September 26, 2025, at 5 p.m. CST.
This grant was made possible by the Coalition for Green Capital, and supported by ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability USA (ICLEI USA). Dane County was selected along with 49 other communities out of 114 across 48 states, the District of Columbia, and tribal nations who applied.
